We specialize in curating unforgettable off-road adventures where you can drive your own 4WD / AWD vehicle off the beaten path! JTOR is perfect for novice to intermediate level adventurers who are equipped with their own vehicles that meet minimum requirements.

Minimum requirements:

Must have high-clearance 4WD / AWD vehicle and knowledge of its operation
Some High-Clearance RWD Vehicle trails also available for guides
Park pass (per vehicle)
Full tank of gas
Spare Tire

Optional requirements:

Knowledge of air down process (onboard compressor)
31” or larger tires (recommended)

Physical Characteristics: They are named for their unique method of moving sideways in a sideways or "sidewinding" motion. This adaptation helps them move efficiently across loose desert sand.

Size: They are relatively small compared to other rattlesnake species, typically ranging from 1 to 2 feet in length, though some individuals can grow slightly larger.

Coloration: Their coloration varies, but they often have a light brown or pale gray background with darker brown or reddish-brown blotches down the back. Their scales have a horn-like projection, giving them a rough texture.

Behavior: Sidewinders are nocturnal hunters, feeding on small rodents, lizards, and sometimes birds. They use their heat-sensing pits on the sides of their heads to detect prey in the dark.

Road Trip 🌟 Discovering ancient stories etched in stone! Journey through the ages with mesmerizing Native American rock art from the Anasazi, Fremont, and Ute cultures. 🎨🏞️

A large rock adorned with Native American rock art on all sides, spans cultural periods from the Anasazi (AD 1 to AD 1275), Fremont (AD 450 to AD 1250), to the Ute (AD 1200's to AD 1880).

The famous "birthing scene," depicting a baby in a feet-first position, is prominently displayed on the north side's left corner. Surrounding it are depictions of various animals like centipedes, horses, bear paws, and snakes, alongside triangular anthropomorphic figures and a sandal trackway. Dating clues, such as images of horses and bows with arrows, suggest post-AD 1540 and AD 500, respectively, reflecting historical events and developments in the region.

Anasazi art (AD 1 to AD 1275) features diverse anthropomorphic figures with earrings, headdresses, handprints, animals like bighorn sheep and deer, and abstract designs. Fremont art (AD 450 to AD 1250) showcases broad-shouldered human figures with trapezoidal shapes, adorned with elaborate headdresses, ear bobs, facial decorations, and depictions of bighorn sheep and deer. Ute art (AD 1200's to AD 1880) depicts human figures on foot and horseback engaged in hunting, warfare scenes, and interactions with horses and bison.
